Maddy in the Paper
Below is an article printed in the New Albany Tribune. Its a good article even though they mispelled her last name.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Last May, the Bulldogs left their home court frustrated after losing the HHC tournament final to archrival Floyd Central, 4-1.This season, New Albany hopes to have a chance to redeem itself. The Bulldogs have four players back from their conference runner-up squad, including their top two singles players in seniors Kylia Sullivan and Kylie Crecelius. Senior Sarah Nale is expected to return at No. 1 doubles, while junior Emory Jones could see some time at both singles and doubles. “With three seniors back, I think we’ll have a solid team,” longtime New Albany coach Bob Dusch said. “If we can get our doubles jelling, we have a shot at conference this year.”Four other players should see some time in the starting lineup. Junior Haley Haws will split her playing time between No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles. Seniors Ishite Jain and Emily Eiler move up from the junior-varsity squad, and Dusch says freshman Maddie Ballew can “hit it a ton.” Ballew could see some action at three singles or either doubles spot.Dusch expects Floyd and Jeff to be his team’s toughest competition within the conference. As for its nonconference slate, the Bulldogs will face the teams in last year’s Floyd Regional final in Silver Creek and Providence. One change on New Albany’s 2009 schedule is it will host its own invitational next month.
